Toonami Trending Rundown for June 18th-19th, 2016 By @AnimeSavior

“It’s been too hard to say goodbye, so I’m going the rest of the way alone. I want you to know that I really enjoyed the talk we had around the campfire last night. Before I knew it, I found myself wishing that this journey could go on forever. But then all of a sudden I got scared. When Ithought of the three of us splitting up, I started to panic. Maybe I’ve been relying on you guys too much this whole time. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to make it on my own once this thing is over. So I gave it a lot of thought. And I decided to make this last leg of the trip alone. Just one last thing, I know you said that you’d put off your duel until our journey was over, but I really don’t want you to kill each other. The souvenir castella cakes are a farewell gift from me. Take some time, eat the cakes, and try to reconsider the duel. Goodbye, I hope we meet again someday.“

The Toonami Trending Rundown for June 18-19, 2016. A good night for Toonami’s social media buzz overall as Toonami and every show had trended during their respective East Coast airings, the first time since April 2nd that this has occurred. Gundam IBO and Hunter x Hunter would also trend during their respective West Coast airings as well, while One Piece also trended on Tumblr.

With the Summer season now here as of Monday, the convention season is in full swing, and we should be hearing a lot of anime news in the weeks ahead. I myself will be going to SDCC next month to help you get some Toonami related news from there. Here’s a couple news bits in regards to Toonami related programming:

  • After months of waiting for news on the new Samurai Jack, we finally got some news from the Annecy Festival. A premiere date is still yet to be announced, though we do know that the new season will be 10 episodes long, will be set 50 years after season 4 last took place, though Jack hasn’t really aged much, and as the promotional poster would tell you, the show will be darker and edgier thanks to Gennedy having more creative freedom as the new season will premiere during Adult Swim hours. In terms of social media buzz, Samurai Jack trended on Facebook as a result.
  • There will be a Sword Art Online panel in Anime Expo on July 2nd at 12:45pm in room LP1 featuring the show’s cast and some other special guests. In addition to some live reading and bloopers from the cast, we’ll also hear some news possibly regarding Ordinal Scale and the future of the franchise in general. In addition Aniplex is hosting a character poll, the SAO Elections, to see which of the show’s charcters would best serve as their president. Check out this link to vote for your favorite.
  • To celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Blue Exorcist anime, series creator Kazue Kato and Aniplex will be hosting a panel on Anime Expo as well on July 3rd at 2:15pm in room LP1.
  • And finally in regards to Anime Expo, it has just been announced that the Toonami crew will have a panel at the con on July 1st on 7:30pm at room 403AB. We’ll get to hear some announcements, including likely what the newest Toonami show will be once Champloo’s run ends on July 9th, as well as giveaways and other fun things. Unfortunately, I can’t make it to Anime Expo at this current time, but if you are going, be sure to check out those panels out and represent the better cartoon show.

Tune in next week as Samurai Champloo showcases the penultimate episode, among other great moments. Until next week, congratulations to the Cleveland Cavaliers on winning the NBA Championship and finally breaking Cleveland’s 52 year championship curse, and stay gold.
