“Hate to say it, but we were completely overwhelmed this round. If Jotaro hadn’t figured it out, we would’ve been done for. Are we going to encounter even more stands with crazy unknown powers from now on? We’ll have to be ready for anything.”
– Joseph Joestar, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders (Ep. 07)
The Toonami Trending Rundown for September 16-17, 2017. Business as usual for the better cartoon show as the Tournament of Destroyers begins as Goku fights Botamo and Frost, while Killua exits Greed Island to retake the Hunter exam, and Gene would receive the show’s namesake ship Hilda stole, among other moments.
It was a bit of a tough night for trending on Twitter as only two shows, Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop would manage to trend in the US. Things were a bit better on Tumblr meanwhile, as Toonami would trend along with Dragon Ball Super, DBZ, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and Hunter x Hunter.
And Dragon Ball Super continues to rank strong on Nielsen Social’s top 5 most talked about shows on the day on Twitter and Facebook, making it to the #4 spot. This is also the 34th time a Toonami show has reached this list since we started recording this feat and the 20th time for the franchise so far.
This week’s feature was a game review of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy for the PS4. It received an 8 out of 10 score.
Good news, Gundam fans. We now know when part 2 of Iron Blooded Orphans will be making its English Dub premiere: October 7 at 12:30am, the week after Tokyo Ghoul Root A completes its run. We hope you’re ready for the return of Mikazuki and the Tekkadan in 2 weeks time, but in the meantime for those late to the party or for those that want to re-watch season 1 in anticipation, the dub is available to stream on GundamInfo on Youtube, while the sub can be viewed on Crunchyroll among other legal sources.
Tune in tonight as Tokyo Ghoul showcases the penultimate episode of Root A, among other great moments. We’ll see you again tonight as always, but of course we do wish to send our thoughts and prayers to those affected by the events of Hurricane Maria, the recent Puebla Earthquake, and all the recent disasters in general. We hope everyone affected is doing okay, and if you wish to help, please send donations to the various reputable charities. Especially coming off the heels of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, help and support is going to be hard to come by, and every little bit helps, as these communities pick themselves up and rebuild their lives.
