“It’s been this way for a long time, and you may not be open to change right now. But I will become the best in the magic realm and prove to all of you…that it’s fine even if you can’t use magic, okay?”
– Mash Burnedead, Mashle: Magic and Muscles (Ep. 24)
The Toonami Trending Rundown for January 24-25 and January 31-February 1, 2026. This fortnight featured the Mashle season 2 finale and the Blue Exorcist season 4 mid-season finale.

With both Mashle and Blue Exorcist going into hiatus, Toonami has made an announcement on what is next on the dock come February 2026. At the “Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri” event on January 24-25 in Chiba, Japan, Toei Animation commemorated the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball by revealing some huge announcements regarding the franchise’s future following the success of Dragon Ball Daima.
The big news is that Dragon Ball Super will be returning from its eight-year anime hiatus with a new story arc, titled “The Galactic Patrol Saga.” Canonically following the Universe Survival arc, this new arc will cover the Moro Saga, also known as the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga in the manga. A release date has yet to be announced.
But that’s not all for Dragon Ball Super. Toei has also announced that they are producing a Remake/Remaster of the Battle of Gods saga, scheduled for Fall 2026, titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus.
A new Dragon Ball game was also announced, titled “Age 1000”, which will feature a new original character designed by Akira Toriyama before his passing. The new game is scheduled for release in 2027. According to Toei, more updates for the game will be unveiled at “Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026” in the U.S. on April 18-19.

In terms of the social media buzz that came from the announcement, Dragon Ball trended in the US alongside Battle of Gods, Beerus, Daima, Moro, and Goku.
Of course, this likely won’t be the end of either Blue Exorcist or Mashle on Toonami. During Jump Festa last month, Aniplex revealed that a third season of Mashle is in the works, which will cover the Tri-Magic-Athalon Divine Visionary Final Exam Arc in the manga. The series will air in Japan in 2027.
Blue Exorcist will have one more arc left, The Blue Night Saga, before Toonami viewers are “caught up” with what has been released so far anime-wise. It is still to be determined when Toonami and Aniplex will air that arc at this time. Do note that both the Beyond the Snow and Blue Night sagas are collectively parts of season 4, as the Blue Night saga did start in Japan (and simulcasting on Crunchyroll) a week after the Beyond the Snow saga wrapped up. While splitting seasons is common in television, it’s unknown why Toonami and Aniplex did so with this scenario.
Tune in Saturday for the Toonami debuts of Tokyo Revengers and Blue Lock, among other great moments. Until next time, stay gold, and feel free to donate to Mike McFarland’s GoFundMe if you can as he continues his battle against glioblastoma.
