“Incredible.  When we started, the Eight was fighting our battles alone. But we kept going and gained all these wonderful allies along the way. Hey Evangelists, are you ready? We’re coming for you. We’ll protect the Tokyo Empire. That’s why we’re doing this. The special Fire Force is uniting to kick your ass.”

–          Shinra Kusakabe, Fire Force (Season 2, Ep. 24)

This Toonami Trending Rundown is a double-feature for the nights of May 1-2 and 8-9, 2021. It was a fortnight of season premieres and season finales, with the mid-season finale of Attack on Titan’s final season, alongside the Season 2 finale of Fire Force and the return of My Hero Academia for its fifth season.

For the night of May 1-2, #Toonami trended in the United States alongside Food Wars, The Promised Neverland, Fire Force, and Black Clover. Both Attack on Titan and Naruto Shippuden meanwhile would see a character from their shows trend, Sasha, and Itachi respectively. Meanwhile, for the night of May 8-9, #Toonami trended in the United States on Twitter alongside My Hero Academia for its season premiere, as well as Food Wars, The Promised Neverland, Fire Force for its season finale, and Black Clover. #Toonami also trended on Tumblr.

Dragon Ball Super also saw #GokuDay and Broly day, as the latter night coincided with Goku Day in Japan and among the Dragon Ball community. This is because 5/9 is pronounced “Go-Ku” in Japanese. Toei also released an announcement that a new Dragon Ball Super movie in the works.

The full list, including statistics and tweet counts from the Twitter app, can be seen below.

Tune in tonight for the season 2 premiere of Dr. Stone, among other great moments. The number next to the listed trend represents the highest it trended on the list (not counting the promoted trend), judging only by the images placed in the rundown. For the Twitter tweet counts, the listed number of tweets are also sorely based on the highest number shown based on the images on the rundown.
