The Toonami Trending Rundown for May 7-8, 2022. For this week’s social media buzz, Toonami trended in the United States on Twitter alongside Assassination Classroom, Naruto Shippuden and Cowboy Bebop. Meanwhile on Tumblr, Assassination Classroom also trended.
This week, Toonami released a new lineup promo, detailing the changes to the schedule that will take full effect by next week’s broadcast. Reruns of Primal will kick off the block at midnight (perhaps as a precursor to the new season premiering later this year), while Attack on Titan will join Shenmue with an encore rerun at the end of the block.
Unfortunate news from the voice acting community these past few weeks, as Billy Kametz has announced that he has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer.Toonami viewers might know him for voicing Josuke in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Metal Lee in Boruto, Rui in Demon Slayer. Amon Hajiki in Fire Force, and Nicolo in Attack on Titan, among others. Billy is taking a hiatus from voiceover work (with his ongoing roles being temporally recast) and has moved back to his hometown in Pennsylvania to be with his family. I personally join the Toonami Faithful and the greater anime community in sending my prayers and well wishes to Billy as he fights this disease. On Tuesday, Toei Animation and Crunchyroll have released a new trailer for the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero film, announcing that the highly anticipated film will be released in theaters this Summer 2022.
