“Four years ago, when I was 15, I was still a real human being. Though we were poor and had to pinch pennies, we were still able to get by. We lived a peaceful and happy life together. Until that fateful day, when a crazy cyborg went out of control and attacked our town. We never knew why it happened, most likely a failed body modification generated an irregularity in his brain. He destroyed everything in sight. Parks, schools, buildings, my house. He even took the lives of everyone in my family. Miraculously I survived, but being only a weak 15 year old, I was alone at the end of my strength in a ruined town. That’s when Dr. Kuseno happened to pass through. The doctor, a scientist for justice, was on a mission to stop the rampaging cyborg and end his oppression. I asked the doctor to give me Body Remodification surgery to make me better, stronger, faster. That’s how I was reborn as a cyborg who fights for justice. I promised Dr. Kuseno I would terminate the cyborg and bring peace to this world.”

The Toonami Trending Rundown for July 23-24, 2016. Comic-Con week is in the books and in a week that celebrates nerddom and pop culture, Toonami would not be left out of the buzz as Toonami and every show had successfully trended in the US during their respective East Coast runs. In addition, both Naruto Shippuden and One Piece would each give us a character trend with Obito (as back during the Third Shinobi World War, he sacrifices himself to save Kakashi and gives him his Sharingan eye) as well as Brook (as he battles against Ryuma to get his shadow back and laments his friendship with Laboon). And finally for the 2nd week in a row, One Punch Man made it to Nielsen Social’s top 5 most tweeted about shows on the day, making the #2 slot, the highest we’ve seen for a Toonami show.
I was in Comic-Con myself this past week to help get you guys the latest Toonami news from San Diego, and for those that haven’t heard, we got some pretty good things headed our way. The big news coming out is that this October, likely when One Punch Man completes its run, the hit anime series Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure will make it’s long awaited debut on the better cartoon show. Toonami revealed the next generation of Clydes, the first of which were showcased in a Toonami ID, which you saw after the preview of Suicide Squad. There was also some progress shown on Samurai Jack, however a release date is still yet to be announced. The full details are a bit long to be in this article, so I’ll have a separate article regarding Comic-Con within the next couple days.
Tune in next week as we rejoin Sasuke and Team Hebi in the Itachi Pursuit Mission arc among other great moments. Until next week, stay gold.
