Back on April 26, voice actor Billy Kametz had revealed on his social media that he had been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer and that he would be taking a hiatus from voiceover work to move back to his hometown in Pennsylvania for treatment and be with his family.
Unfortunately, an update on Kametz’ GoFundMe page by its organizer, A. Jinnie McManus, revealed that Billy had passed away on Thursday, June 9. He was 35 years old.

Billy Kametz had been a regular voice on the Toonami lineup, as he had been best known among viewers for voicing the likes of Josuke in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Metal Lee in Boruto, Rui in Demon Slayer, Amon Hajiki in Fire Force, and Nicolo in Attack on Titan. Some of his non-Toonami roles include voicing Naofumi in The Rising of The Shield Hero, Galo in Promare, and White Blood Cell in Cells at Work!
According to his obituary, “Billy had dreamed of becoming an actor since his early childhood. He got his break with Disney as part of the entertainment staff on the Disney cruise line and later moved to California when he was offered the role of Aladdin in Disneyland’s Musical Spectacular. His love for his work as an actor and unforgettable voice will continue to entertain fans and always be remembered. Billy was always most gracious towards all of his fans and appreciated the opportunity to do something he loved so much each day.”
A GoFundMe campaign was launched on his behalf a few days after publicly revealing his diagnosis, which has received over $175,000 in donations. If you wish to help Billy’s family cover his remaining medical expences and burial costs, the GoFundMe will be active until Tuesday, June 14. If you also wish to remember Billy in a philanthropic way, his family suggests sending contributions to the Colon Cancer Coalition in Kametz’s honor.
We here at Toonami Squad send our condolences to Billy’s friends, family, and fans. Billy, may your soul rest in peace, and thank you for everything.
