Every year in July, no less than 130,000 attendees converge into Downtown San Diego as the San Diego Comic-Con is held. With Comic-Con being one of the world’s biggest festivals for comics and nerd culture, not surprisingly some of the biggest news in entertainment is often announced here. While there will not be a Toonami panel at SDCC this year, there will be several panels and events for Toonami fans to enjoy and perhaps to watch out for in regards to future announcements.
Adult Swim this year will once again be setting up their “Adult Swim on the Green” Festival Grounds just outside the convention center halls, to showcase some of their hit and upcoming titles. This includes Rick and Morty: The Anime, which is scheduled to premiere on August 15, with the Japanese version airing on Toonami on the 17th; and My Adventures with Superman, which just completed its season 2 finale last week, and season 3 already announced to be in production. Meanwhile, Crunchyroll will be hosting two different concert series, with famed artist LiSA (of Demon Slayer and Sword Art Online fame) performing some of her hit songs, while San Diego Symphony Orchestra will perform some pieces for the One Piece 25th Anniversary: Symphonic Voyage. Also, Aniplex will host a Demon Slayer panel. And who knows what else we’ll see in store.
Hand-picked from the official schedule and other sources, this is a curated list of the various events and panels that could be of interest of Toonami viewers, including panels of shows that have been featured on Toonami, as well as industry panels of companies that have a partnership with the block.
Do note that there is a possibility that there can be Toonami-related news in panels that aren’t listed below, but fans should be on the lookout for any possible announcements. I’ll be on the ground in Downtown San Diego covering the events, so for potential breaking news announcements and live-tweets, be sure to follow @ToonamiSquad on Twitter and our other social media accounts.
This schedule list will be updated if more information becomes available and is subject to change. All listed times are in Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) unless specified. If there’s any events that we left out that is of interest for Toonami viewers or needs changing, feel free to let @AnimeSavior know through his Twitter.
