After a two-year hiatus, My Adventures with Superman is set to premiere its third season on Toonami this June 13, 2026.

Following the airing of the season 2 finale of My Adventures with Superman back in 2024, Toonami had announced that a third season of the series was in production. In an exclusive reveal and interview with executive producer Jake Wyatt by Entertainment Weekly published on Friday, May 1, the season premiere date was finally revealed, with My Adventures with Superman season 3 scheduled to air on Toonami this June 13 at midnight EDT/PDT. The show will be available for streaming on HBO Max the following day.

A key plot point for season 3 will be based around the “Reign of the Supermen” a story arc in the original comic books released in 1993 and made into an animated film in 2019. The key visual released alongside the announcement by Entertainment Weekly emphasizes this, which features a first look at Cyborg Superman, aka Hank Henshaw.

The visual was drawn by Li Cree and colored by Jane Bak.

The Reign of the Supermen in the comics followed the Death of Superman arc, where after Superman (apparently) dies after a battle with Doomsday, multiple other “Super Men” pop up, including the Eradicator/Last Son of Krypton, Cyborg Superman, Superboy, and Steel, to claim the title of Superman for themselves. However, Wyatt emphasizes that My Adventures with Superman’s Reign of the Supermen arc is “not gonna be a retread of the comics.” He tells Entertainment Weekly: “It’s more about, “What would we do with that premise now?” […] It’s less Death [of Superman] and more about, “What’s a Superman?” The fun thing about Reign of the Supermen is that it’s all these impostors who have the same power set but different values.”

Jake Wyatt previously revealed during San Diego Comic Con 2024, that Super Boy will be making his debut in the upcoming season, in addition to new villains as well as returning villains with new looks, including a Lex Luthor that has gone bald. Luthor will be a key villain in season 3, with his disdain and insecurities of Superman and his heroic acts due to “the hero is something he can’t control” being the main plot point in his storyline. Wyatt explains to Entertainment Weekly: “The future is coming always for all of us, no matter what. Whether you face that with fear or hope or courage, and how, it determines a lot about you, […] Lex is all fear all the time. He’s the character who most embodies that concept in the season, and he’s driving it —the action thread, anyway.”

Jack Quaid will return to reprise his role as Superman, alongside Alice Lee as Lois Lane, Ishmel Sahid as Jimmy Olsen, and Kiana Madeira as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl.

As for what could be next for DC Comics on Toonami and Adult Swim, a spinoff series featuring Green Lantern, titled My Adventures with Green Lantern is presently in the works. Which Jake Wyatt is producing along with Stephanie Gonzaga. According to Variety, “My Adventures with Green Lantern,” will follow high school student Jessica Cruz who has her life upended when, according to an official logline, “a Green Lantern Power Ring falls from the sky” and chooses Cruz “to be its champion.” Things get even worse “when more debris from the Lanterns’ ancient space war arrives – along with their alien foes.

Season 3 of My Adventures with Superman will feature a light cameo of Jessica Cruz.

Wyatt has not been shy in saying that the anime of Toonami has had a direct influence on My Adventures with Superman’s storytelling, and his team will bring that same influence to My Adventures with Green Lantern. Jake told Entertainment Weekly: “Our take on Superman is very obviously inspired by Dragon Ball Z, among other things; there’s a lot of anime influence. Lantern is inspired by a very different part of the same Toonami block. It’ll be really clear once we start dropping promos what part of the Toonami block inspired our Green Lantern show. We’re not subtle, people.”

In regards to the current state of My Adventures with Green Lantern’s production, Wyatt told Entertainment Weekly that the show is still in pre-production and are waiting on an official pickup, noting “We are just about to ship our first episode to Korea for animation, so it’s gonna be a minute.” My Adventures with Superman is animated by Studio Mir in Seoul, South Korea.

As for a potential Season 4 of My Adventures with Superman, Wyatt said during the interview that the show is also “not technically renewed.” Jake Wyatt alongside co-producer Brendan Clogher had pitched seasons 3 and 4 simultaneously to DC Studios CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran when they took the helm back in November 2022. And while Season 3 was given the green light, season 4 on the other hand has yet to be determined.

Wyatt also noted that the first two seasons were originally ordered in one batch of 20 episodes, but the Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) merger in 2022 forced DC to yield “a wait-and-see period after season 1 aired.” Wyatt clarified to Entertainment Weekly: “I wanna be clear, the studio was always super supportive and ready to make it. We just needed the stars and the bank accounts to align.” Unfortunately, the stars and bank accounts might need to align again as WBD is presently going through another merger, this time with Paramount/Skydance Media. Whether regulators in the U.S. and worldwide let the merger go through is to be determined; there has been significant push back from Hollywood workers, fans and lawmakers against the potential merger due to antitrust concerns and the slew of controversies by both WBD and Skydance during the ongoing streaming service bubble. Nonetheless, it is likely that this is also playing a role in a delay of season 4.

As for what the fans can do to make their case heard to Cartoon Network, DC Comics, and Warner Bros Discovery, Wyatt simply replied: “Please watch the show on Adult Swim, on Toonami, and then HBO Max, and maybe we’ll get a season 4.”
