Viz Media and Adult Swim released a new trailer and key visual for the upcoming Toonami original series Rooster Fighter, revealing that the new anime series by Shu Sakuratani will be making its World Premiere on the block this coming March 14th at Midnight.
Viz also released a statement from Rooster Fighter creator Shu Sakuratani regarding his enthusiasm for the new anime:
“Rooster Fighter” is finally being made into an anime! Ever since becoming a manga artist, my biggest goal was to have my work adapted into an anime. So, I can’t tell you how happy I am to see my dream come true!
This is all thanks to my readers’ continued support and Hero’s and VIZ Media’s contributions. I extend my gratitude to all of you.
I believe “Rooster Fighter” is very blessed. We have the best director, the best writer, the best production staff, and the best voice actors all working together to create the best anime.
As the original creator, I am ecstatic! I can’t wait to see Keiji and the gang come to life on TV. I hope that everyone out there will enjoy this anime where chickens take center stage!”
The story’s synopsis is as follows:
Keiji is more than just an ordinary rooster—he’s humanity’s greatest defender! His opponents may be ten stories tall, but nothing is bigger than his stout heart and his fearsome battle cry—Kokekokko!
The cast for Rooster Fighter in English will include:
- Patrick Seitz as Keiji (Dio in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Franky in One Piece)
- Luci Christian as Elizabeth (Nami in One Piece, Ochaco Uraraka in My Hero Academia)
- Kimoy Lee as Piyoko (Syrup in Witch Watch)
- Robbie Daymond as Keisuke (Tuxedo Mask/Mamoru in Sailor Moon, Megumi in Jujutsu Kaisen)
- Roger Rose as Morio (Takumi in Fire Emblem Fates)
The first opening theme for the show will be “What’s a Hero?” by DARUMA Rollin’.
In Japan, Rooster Fighter will premiere on April 5, airing on Tokyo MX on midnight JST and BS Nittele on April 6 at 11:30 p.m. JST. Viz is also working on releasing the show on streaming platforms worldwide, with further details to be revealed on a later date.
Adult Swim released a press release, which you can see below:
Action-Comedy Anime “Rooster Fighter” to Draw Blood and Ruffle Feathers on Adult Swim March 14
One cock to save the world. Adult Swim will premiere new series “Rooster Fighter” the evening of Saturday, March 14 at midnight ET/PT, as part of its Toonami anime/action block.
The adaptation of Shu Sakuratani’s manga “Rooster Fighter” follows “cock-about town” Keiji. More than just an ordinary rooster—he’s humanity’s greatest defender! When strange creatures suddenly appear and start attacking, he confronts them head-on while scoffing: “You make my crown curl!” His opponents may be ten stories tall, but nothing is bigger than his stout heart and his fearsome battle cry—Kokekokko!
“‘Rooster Fighter’ is the kind of show that immediately answers the question ‘yes, but what if a rooster did it?’ and then never looks back,” said Michael Ouweleen, president, Adult Swim. “It’s ridiculous, wildly sincere, and packed with talon-powered action.”
Adult Swim will air the 12-episode series in English every Saturday evening at midnight beginning March 14.
“Rooster Fighter” is produced for Adult Swim by VIZ and HERO’s INC, in association with SOLA Entertainment and SANZIGEN.
