It looks like the impact of Saitama’s punch was greater than we thought, as it appears as though a power struggle has begun between the new and old school. Toonami’s golden child, “Dragon Ball Z Kai”, had the highest in total numbers of the block. However, “One Punch Man” defeated the Z-Fighters in the (18-49) target demographic for the second week in a row. Not only that, “One Punch Man” was 1# in the Top 10 Original Cable Telecast of Saturday. Standing beside it was “Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans”, which ranked in the number #2 spot. Saitama also punched it’s way into Nielsen’s Daily Top 5 for Series & Specials, ranking second on the list.
As for the block in it’s entirety, Toonami had an excellent night in performance in an otherwise low-viewed night as the first 4 shows of the night scored over a million in total numbers. In addition, none of the shows dipped below 700k viewers.
Overall, a great night for the Better Cartoon Show. What do you think, will the power struggle continue? Or do you think it was another fluke? Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
