Toonami Trending Rundown for August 9-10 and 16-17, 2025

“Yeah, I understand. Don’t you worry. I get it. Sure, I’m the spawn of Satan, I can’t escape that or my power. I’ve always been afraid of it. But facing it, accepting it, but now I understand how wrong I was. Take a good look. This is me, Yukio. This is who I am. If I’m not cool with myself, I’m not gonna get anywhere. Yukio, we’re brothers. I need you to be cool with me, too.”

–          Rin Okumura, Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga (Ep. 11)

This Toonami Trending Rundown is a double-feature for August 9-10 and 16-17, 2025 as fans were treated to the finale of the Blue Exorcist Kyoto Saga, among other great moments.

For the night of August 9-10, #Toonami trended in the USA on Twitter alongside every premiering show (every show except for Lazarus and Naruto) while Dan Da Dan (alongside Ken Takakura) and One Piece trended on Tumblr. Meanwhile for the night of August 16-17, #Toonami trended in the US on Twitter alongside Dragon Ball Super, Dan Da Dan, Bleach TYBW, and Blue Exorcist for its arc finale.

Mike McFarland, voice actor and ADR Director whom has contributed to many Toonami shows over the years including Dragon BallFull Metal Alchemist and Attack on Titan, has been battling a massive brain tumor after originally dealing with symptoms of an ear infection back in January. Unfortunately, Mike has revealed through his colleagues that the tumor has been diagnosed as a glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Despite months of treatment, it is progressing faster than previously expected.

According to friend and colleague Brandon McInnis on Mike’s GoFundMe page, “After an attempt with assisted living, Mike was once again hospitalized and will now be moving to a skilled nursing facility to continue his treatment. We know the term glioblastoma might come as a shock to some. Mike only told a few at first the severity of his condition. With some encouragement from his family, he has bravely decided to go public with his diagnosis. While insurance does cover a certain number of days for care, everything beyond that will be a private pay scenario. If you’ve ever looked into the cost of such facilities, you know the national average is the price of a decent used car… every month.”

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mike as he recovers, and if you wish to help Mike in a philanthropic way, feel free to donate to his GoFundMe set up by his colleagues.

Tune in next week as Blue Exorcist begins the Shimane Illuminati Saga, among other great moments. Until next time, stay gold as always.
