This Toonami Trending Rundown is for the month of July and the week of August 2-3, 2025. Momo and Okarun’s ghost and alien adventures have finally made it to the Absolution as the hit anime series Dandadan has made its debut on the better cartoon show.
For the night of July 5-6, Toonami held a marathon of all 10 episodes of My Adventures with Superman season 2 to coincide with promotion for the upcoming theatrical release of James Gunn’s Superman (2025). And the following week on July 12th, Toonami marathoned all 13 episodes of Lazarus to commemorate the show’s completion, this time in Japanese (with English Subtitles). As both nights were marathon nights, no Toonami related trends were spotted on social media.
For the night of July 19-20, #Toonami would trend in the United States on Twitteralongside Dragon Ball Daima and Bleach TYBW. Meanwhile on Tumblr, #Toonami trended alongside Bleach. The following week on the night of Dandadan’s premiere on July 26-27, #Toonami trended on the USA on Twitter alongside Dragon Ball Daima, Dandadan, Bleach TYBW (with Orihime also trending for some reason) and Blue Exorcist. And on the night of August 2-3, #Toonami trended on the U.S. on Twitter alongside Dragon Ball Daima, Dandandan, and BleachTYBW. Dandadan and One Piece also trended on Tumblr.
Alongside a brand-new look and branding for the first time since 2021, the feature for July 26-27 was a new “Criminal Threats” promo. You can check it out below.
Meanwhile, the feature for August 2-3 was a game review for Doom: The Dark Ages. It received a 9.0/10 score.
Summer marks the peak of the anime and comic convention calendar, and I (along with several of my colleagues) were busy attending both Anime Expo and San Diego Comic-Con during the month of July. Among some of the news released during the month included a new trailer for Rooster Fighter, which will be premiering on Toonami come Spring 2026.
I’ll have a report on some of the Toonami-related events that took place during the conventions in addition to an interview with Michelle Ruff, the voice of Rukia in Bleach, in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for that and more. In the meantime, I was invited to last month’s episode of the Toonami Squad Podcast Sessions as we discussed some of what we saw during Anime Expo.
Finally, with Blue Exorcist coming down the stretch of the Kyoto Saga, you might be wondering when is season 3 coming to Toonami? Good news, on Friday, Toonami and Aniplex have announced that the Shimane Illuminati Saga, the third season of Blue Exorcist, will be kicking right off on August 23 at 1:30 a.m. EDT, a week after the Kyoto Saga reaches its conclusion on August 16.

On a related note, there was also some confusion of if Naruto would continue on Toonami as it was originally omitted from the Toonami schedule during the Blue Exorcist season 3 announcement. However, that omission turned out to be an error and (unlike his son) Naruto will continue to complete the Toonami lineup every Saturday at 3:00 a.m. EDT for the foreseeable future.
