With the month of Scavengers Reign coming to a close, Toonami has revealed that for the month of October 2026, they will be premiering a pair of new programming to their lineup. This includes Get Jiro co-created by the late, great travel writer and chef Anthony Bourdain, and the anime series Wind Breaker by Satoru Nii.
On August 27th, Toonami revealed that that they will be airing a brand-new Adult Swim original series, Get Jiro. The series is based on a graphic novel by the late Anthony Bourdain and Joel Rose and published by DC Comics back in 2012. Animated by Warner Bros. Animation and developed by Alessandro Tanaka and Brian Gatewood, Get Jiro will be 10 episodes long, with Toonami airing a doubleheader of the first two episodes airing in the midnight hour on October 3rd. The series will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
The show’s protagonist Jiro is voiced by Brian Tee, with Titus Welliver, Alison Pill, and Justin Kirk among the show’s cast.
Toonami released the full schedule for October 3rd, with the doubleheader premiere of Get Jiro at midnight to be followed by a doubleheader of One Piece at the 1:00 a.m. hour. An encore run of Get Jiro will air weekly at the conclusion of the block at 3:30 a.m.
During the broadcast on the night of September 26, Toonami revealed a new trailer, announcing that Wind Breaker would be joining the better cartoon show starting on October 10th at 12:30 a.m.

Based on the manga written and illustrated by Satoru Nii and serialized by Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket with over 27 volumes and 229 chapters and counting. The anime is directed by Toshifumi Akai, animated by CloverWorks (who also animated The Promised Neverland), and licensed by Aniplex.
Season 1 was 13 episodes in length and aired on MBS, TBS and other stations in the Japanese News Network (JNN) from April to June 2024. Season 2 aired a year later from April to June 2025 and was 12 episodes in length.
The series synopsis is as follows (via Anime News Network):
Haruka Sakura wants nothing to do with weaklings—he’s only interested in the strongest of the strong. He’s just started at Furin High School, a school of degenerates known only for their brawling strength—strength they use to protect their town from anyone who wishes it ill. But Haruka’s not interested in being a hero or being part of any sort of team—he just wants to fight his way to the top.
Several of Wind Breaker’s English voice actors took to Twitter voicing their approval of the show being picked up by Toonami, including Maria Delilah (voice of young Tasuku Tsubakino), Nick Huber (voice of Tōma Hiragi), Aaron Campbell (voice of Hajime Umemiya), and Bryson Baugus (voice of Akihiko Nirei).
